Langtang means, “follow the yak” and is inhabited by the polite Sherpa’s just north above Kathmandu. We start from Kathmandu to Dunche by bus a tamang village. The real trek begins: we walk through the rhododendrons bushes swarmed with butterflies and we arrive Lama Hotel. From here we cross a pass to Ghora Tabela. Glimpses of Langtang Lirung 7245m. Appear through the trees, until finally at Ghora Tabela the trail emerges in to the open. The Langtang village 3514m. where the Bhotia’S live in Tibetan style houses with praying flags in the headquarter of this National Park. After a day free and a visit to t Tibetan monastery and cheese factory of kanging Gompa 3800m. we descend to Syabru. We walk through the Langtang valley where there are beautiful campingsites on Yak pastures and spectacular mountain and glacier scenery. The trail climbs to Buddhist monastery, sing Gompa, and at chandan Bari, elevation about 3350m. The tail to Gosainkund is confusing and involves a lots of climbing, leaving the forests below. The only signs of habitation are herders. There are outstanding views across Langtang valley to Langtang Lirung 7245m.to the west view is even more dramatic with Himal Chuli 6893m. Ganesh Himal 7406m. And Manaslu 8156m. Visible. On a clear day it is even possible to see all the way to the Annaprunas and Dhaulagiri. Then we come in the unspoiled landscape of Gosainkund. We set up our tent by the three holy lakes near the stone shelters, used by the pilgrims during the full moon festival in August. Across the snow pass 4600m. We arrive in Gopte. While we decent steeply alongside a stream, we still can see the Himalayan range and we even can spot the Everest. We pass some village with Hindu-influence and return back to Kathmandu.

12 Days Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu – 1,300m/4,264 ft
Day 2 Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek
Day 3 Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft): 145 km/ 7 hrs
Day 4 Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 6 hrs
Day 5 Trek to Mundu (3543m/11,621ft) via Langtang village (3,430m/11,253ft): 6-7 hrs
Day 6 Trek to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft): 3 hrs.
